One of the joys of having family living in a small town is that we get to enjoy all the fun small town celebrations like Hay Days Weekend.

The first weekend in August, we headed to A-town for Hay Days.  On the way, we went through a wicked rain storm and had to snap pics of this intersection in Columbus.

The cars and pick-ups were literally pushing water.  There must have been a water main break or really poor drainage because it was incredible.

Saturday morning we enjoyed the parade where the girls got LOTS more candy.  Here’s Felicity sitting with Grandma…yep, that’s right, she actually sat with Grandma through the whole parade.

We decided to let her have her first sucker.  Big mistake.  Now anytime one of her sisters is eating a sucker, she voices her outrage at the fact that she doesn’t have one.  Oh well.

After the parade we waited around for the duck races.  The fire department comes and runs water out of the hydrant down the street for the rubber duckies to “race” in.

The girls got thoroughly soaked as they “waded” patiently…

Saturday night was “Cruise Night”.  Everyone drives around Main street and…wait…that’s it…they just drive around.  It cracks me up, but it is a lot of fun.  Jeremy’s grandpa owns some neat old cars which are always an option to cruise in, but this year, Jeremy’s dad hooked up a flat bed trailer to the back of his Suburban, loaded it with lawn chairs and a couple coolers and we piled on.  All five of Jeremy’s siblings with their families (or special friends) plus some extras loaded up and had a great time.  Jeremy even made the effort to take pictures of every couple.

Adam and Stacie (and Felicity…don’t worry, it is just a Dr. Pepper she is eyeing)

They weren’t sitting next to each other, so he had to improvise.

The other Hay Days event we took part in was the treasure hunt.  We diligently checked the clues and brainstormed, but alas, we didn’t find it.  In fact, it wasn’t found until almost 2 weeks later.

Thanks for the great weekend, Atkinson!
